Jeonbuk Motors vs Suwon Bluewings

Jeonbuk Motors and Suwon Bluewings are set to trade tackles at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium in an exciting Korean Cup quarter-final tie.

Jeonbuk Motors kicked off their Korean Cup campaign with a hard-earned 1-0 win over lower-league side Ulsan Citizen last time out. They have since delivered a mixed bag of performances across four K League 1 matches (W2, D1, L1). Speaking of Jeonbuk’s problems with inconsistent showings, a run of two wins from their last seven competitive home outings (D4, L1) doesn’t look promising. Each draw during that seven-game sequence yielded the same 1-1 scoreline, highlighting the potential for end-to-end action. Yet, anything other than Jeonbuk’s triumph in this one would be a major surprise. Indeed, the ‘Warriors’ have won four of their last five league H2Hs on home turf (L1).

Meanwhile, Suwon Bluewings needed penalties to oust Gimcheon Sangmu in their Korean Cup curtain-raiser. Things went smooth in the previous round as they put two unanswered goals past Gangwon. But the ‘White and Reds’ will have to defy their abysmal run of form if they are to reach the semi-finals. Lee Byung-keun’s men have lost their last three top-flight fixtures by an aggregate score of 6-1, failing to score from open play. That streak includes a 2-1 defeat at Jeonbuk a week ago that made it four consecutive H2H losses for Suwon. A second-half penalty converted by Elvis Saric at least halted their run of three successive H2Hs without scoring.
