Osasuna vs Celta Vigo

Relegation-battling Celta Vigo head to the Estadio El Sadar to encounter European hopefuls Osasuna in an exciting La Liga match-up.

Osasuna got their bid to claim a first top-six finish in La Liga since 2005/06 back on track with a dramatic 3-2 win at Sevilla last weekend, halting an underwhelming run of five winless league matches (D3, L2). Jagoba Arrasate’s side built on that success, registering a midweek 1-0 home win over Athletic Bilbao in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final tie. ‘Los Rojillos’ will have to maintain their uplift in form if they are to avoid losing three consecutive La Liga home games for the first time since 2016 after back-to-back defeats ‘to nil’ against Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. That’s a realistic prospect, though, with Osasuna going unbeaten in their last four top-flight home meetings with Celta (W2, D2), registering three clean sheets in the process.

On the other hand, visiting Celta Vigo thumped Real Valladolid 3-0 at home last weekend, snapping a two-game winless league streak (D1, L1) and moving three points clear of the relegation zone. However, ‘Los Celestes’ have been inconsistent on the road of late, with their last six away league matches fluctuating between different outcomes (W2, D2, L2). Entertainment has been relatively sparse, though, as four of those six games have featured under 2.5 goals, with three seeing one or both sides fail to get on the scoresheet. That’s also been the case in seven of their last eight top-flight H2Hs against Osasuna away from home.
