Shanghai Port vs Shanghai Shenhua

Jinzhou Stadium forms the backdrop for a mouth-watering Chinese Super League meeting between Shanghai Port and Shanghai Shenhua.

‘Winner takes all’ has been a common theme in Shanghai Port’s inaugural six Chinese Super League fixtures this term (W3, L3). However, they’ve found a way to come out on top lately, racking up three victories from their last four league outings. Since four of their six top-flight matches this season featured a single-goal margin, the home crowd could be in for another cagey contest. Indeed, both Shanghai’s home league games this term have yielded an identical 1-0 scoreline following a goalless half-time (W1, L1). It highlights the importance of scoring the opening goal, something Ivan Leko’s lads have failed to do in four of their six league match-ups thus far.

It’s been a stellar start to the 2022 Chinese Super League for Shanghai Shenhua. Unbeaten in their opening six league matches (W5, D1), the visitors head into proceedings having won the last three on the trot by an aggregate score of 7-2. Additionally, the ‘Flower of Shanghai’ boast a 100% win ratio away from home (W2). But Wu Jingui’s men need some time to reach full speed. Their four top-flight goals scored on hostile turf this season have come in the second half of play. It’s also worth noting that they’ve failed to get on the scoresheet before half-time in all five previous league visits to Port.
