Spain vs Denmark

A top-place finish in UEFA Nations League Group A4 is on the line as Spain and Denmark go head-to-head at Estadio Enrique Roca.

Brimming with confidence after lifting a record-equaling fourth European Championship title in the summer, reigning Nations League champions Spain enjoyed an unbeaten start to their Group A4 journey last month (W1, D1). After an uninspiring 0-0 away draw against Serbia, Luis de la Fuente’s high-flyers defied a numerical disadvantage to topple Switzerland 4-1 and extend their formidable unbeaten run to 12 matches (W10, D2). Indeed, Spain’s last loss came in a friendly against Colombia in March. La Roja have been lethal in front of goal after that 1-0 defeat, netting at least twice in nine of their last 12 internationals. The Spaniards will likely need to pack a punch to keep their purple patch going after only registering one clean sheet in six matches ahead of this contest.

Meanwhile, Denmark’s quest to reach the Nations League finals for the first time since earning League A promotion in 2019 has been off to a faultless start. Lars Knudsen’s side overcame Serbia and Switzerland via an identical 2-0 scoreline in September to climb atop Group A4 heading into this trip. Denmark’s impressive Nations League opening means they have only lost once across their last ten internationals (W5, D4), with that lone failure seeing them lose 2-0 to Germany in the Euro 2024 last-16. That defeat spelled the end of Kasper Hjulmand’s long-term regime. However, Denmark’s performances under caretaker boss Knudsen suggest they could defy the history books and post only their third-ever victory against Spain (D2, L12).
