Suwon Bluewings vs Incheon United

A tasty-looking K League 1 encounter pits hot relegation candidates Suwon Bluewings against playoff-bidding Incheon United at the Suwon World Cup Stadium.

A morale-crushing 3-0 away defeat to Jeonbuk Motors in midweek Korean Cup action extended Suwon Bluewings’ miserable winless streak to five matches across all competitions (D1, L4). The ‘Blue and Whites’ have lost their last three league outings by an aggregate score of 6-1, failing to score from open play in that sequence. On a more positive note, Suwon had won four consecutive competitive home games – three of which ‘to nil’ – before falling to a narrow 1-0 loss to Seoul last time out. Incheon’s visit to the Suwon World Cup Stadium is unlikely to help them get back to winning ways. Two of their previous three top-flight home H2Hs have yielded defeats (W1).

On the other hand, Incheon United’s lack of consistency has seen them alternate between not winning (D1, L2) and winning (2) across their last five league fixtures. In order to maintain that trend, the visitors will have to defy their underwhelming five-game away K League 1 form (D3, L2). Incheon’s defensive frailties witnessed them concede precisely two goals in four of those five matches. The ‘Mariners’ will have to overcome their defensive woes to boost their hopes of beating Suwon, as two of their three top-flight away triumphs this season have come ‘to nil.’
