Switzerland vs Israel

Stade de Geneve is the venue as Switzerland and Israel lock horns in an exciting Euro 2024 qualifier.

Switzerland lived up to their top-seeded status in Group I with an overwhelming 5-0 win over Belarus in their opening Euro 2024 qualifier, laying the foundation for a history-defining achievement. After appearing at the last two European Championship finals, the ‘Nati’ could do it three times in a row for the first time in the nation’s history. The abovementioned demolition of Belarus strengthened Switzerland’s outrageous form in Euro qualifiers, as they’ve now lost just two of their last 17 such fixtures (W13, D2). Moreover, only England boast a more impressive home record in Euro qualifiers on home turf than Switzerland in the 21st century (W13, D2). But there’s no room for complacency, as their four previous meetings with Israel have all ended level.

As for Israel, a first-ever European Championship qualification looks like a pipe dream after an underwhelming 1-1 home draw against Kosovo in their Group I opener maintained their indifferent form across the last four matches (W1, D1, L2). Israel’s travel sickness doesn’t bode well either, with Alon Hazan’s side suffering five defeats on their last seven road trips (W1, D1). Massive defensive issues saw the Israeli concede 2+ goals six times across those seven games, which has been the case in two of their four previous H2Hs against Switzerland. To compound those problems, the visitors have lost five consecutive Euro qualifiers on foreign soil, conceding 3+ goals on three occasions!
