West Ham United vs Brighton & Hove Albion

West Ham United and Brighton & Hove Albion will face off at the London Stadium as the hosts seek their first-ever Premier League win over this opposition.

The November international break has hindered West Ham’s momentum, with the ‘Hammers’ going from four consecutive Premier League victories to their first back-to-back league defeats since April. To get their top-four pursuit back on the rails, the Londoners will have to defy their ‘Brighton hoodoo,’ having failed to win any of their eight Premier League meetings with Brighton since the competition was rebranded in 1992 (D5, L3). Interestingly, though, their last five top-flight clashes have all ended as a draw, three of which saw both teams score at least twice. David Moyes’ men can fall back on their eye-catching midweek form, having avoided defeat in their previous seven midweek Premier League fixtures (W4, D3), winning each of the last four on the trot.

Meanwhile, Brighton could only manage an uneventful scoreless home draw with Leeds United over the weekend despite producing 20 shots on goal. As a result, the ‘Seagulls’ head into proceedings winless in their last eight Premier League outings (D6, L2), drawing a blank in 50% of those matches. In fact, 12.1% of Brighton’s overall Premier League fixtures have ended 0-0 (20/165), the highest ratio of ‘nil-nil’ stalemates in the competition’s history. Speaking of Brighton’s scoring woes, they’ve netted a measly average of 1.04 goals per Premier League match against London sides in 25 previous visits to the capital. After winning their first two Premier League travels this season, Graham Potter’s men are now winless in their last four league matches on the road (D2, L2), conceding first on three occasions in that run.
