Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Everton
Everton’s hopes of avoiding relegation from the Premier League are at stake as they head to Molineux Stadium to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Despite falling to a 2-0 loss at Manchester United last weekend, Wolverhampton Wanderers have no reason to look beyond their shoulders any more as they’ve secured Premier League survival with three games to spare. Back to Molineux, where they’ve won their last four league matches by an aggregate score of 6-0, Wolves are looking to end a home league season with a win for the first time since 2019/20 (D1, L1 since). That’s hardly outside the realms of possibility, considering they’ve won their last three Premier League clashes against Everton, including a 2-1 win in the reverse fixture at Goodison Park. Extending that run would see Julen Lopetegui’s men make history by winning five straight home games for the first time in the Premier League era.
However, visiting Everton will fight tooth and nail to prevent that from happening after last weekend’s dreadful 3-0 home defeat to runaway leaders Manchester City left them hovering only one point clear of the relegation zone. Sean Dyche’s men have massively struggled for form in the second half of the season, picking up just one win in their last nine league outings (D4, L4), so it’s hardly a surprise they’ll likely fight for survival until the final day. Worryingly for the ‘Toffees,’ they’ve only won their final away league game once in the last seven seasons (D1, L5), including back-to-back losses by an aggregate score of 10-1 across the past two campaigns. But after stunning Brighton 5-1 on their most recent league travel, Everton could win consecutive away league games for the first time since May 2021.
